Jalandhar, 07 December (prajaamaravati);
A delegation of journalists from Andhra Pradesh led by Shri Rajinder Chaudhry, Additional Director General (Regional) PIB, Vijayawada (Andhra Pradesh) has visited Jalandhar on Friday, under "Ek Bharat Shrestha Bharat" program.
Journalists have visited to NIT Jalandhar, and the BSF Headquarters of Punjab Frontier, in Jalandhar.
In an interaction session, Prof. Ajay Bansal, Registrar of Dr. BR Ambedkar National Institute of Technology (NIT), Jalandhar explained the NITJ's progress from a Regional Engineering College to NIT and valuable contribution to the progress of the country. He said that every state has its own unique color and such exchange tours facilitate in understanding the culture and progress of different states.
In a presentation, Prof. Raman Bedi, Dean Academic Affairs, explaned the NITJ contribution in implementing the National Education Policy, various academic programs and projects running at NIT Jalandhar. Incidentally, NITJ is in an MoU with IIM Visakhapatnam, AP, under the NEP for Management Degree for their Technology students.
Addressing the visiting journalists and Research scholors on the occasion, Mr. Rajinder Chaudhry, ADG PIB, Vijayawada made a presentation on WAVES-2025, to the the students and researchers and students of NITJ.
Keeping the advent of AI and impact on coding jobs, Shri Chaudhry advised them to participate in the 'Create in India Challenge Season 1' in various fields such as animation, gaming, comics, film, generative AI, broadcasting and other 27 competitions, to be held during WAVES from February 5-9, 2025 at Bharat Mandapam, New Delhi.
Mr Rajinder Chaudhry advised the Students to come out with technology and AI based solutions that could improve the quality of the output of the Engineering issues faced in a day to day routine. He particularly advised for the Farming Sector to be modernised with smart technological solutions..
Bhangra dance, as part of presentation of Punjabi culture, by the NITJ students enthralled the audience.
The visiting journalists also was given a presentation on BSF operations at its Headquarters Punjab Frontier, Jalandhar. Dr. Atul Phulzle, IPS, IG, gave a presentation about various operations of BSF in the 553 KM international border areas. He said, despite several challenges, the BSF successfully safeguarding the borders from infiltration and drug mafia. In this calendar year, 265.55 KG narcotics, 35 various types of arms and ammunition were seized, while 160 indians, 29 Pakistanis, 91 other indian smugglers arrested
and 3 Pakistani inteuders were neutralised, he said.
He also said, 261 drones involved in Drug smuggling were also seized.
Shri Atul also explained various youth engaging programmes in bordering villages. He said, BSF is organizing Attari Border Marathon Marathon-2025 from Amritsar on 23rd February 2025, for which the registrations have begun. Senior BSF officials also participated in the meeting with the journalists.
Shri. Rajesh Bali, Assistant Director (News) Akashwani Jalandhar, Shri R Ramesh Chandra, Assistant Director (CBC, Vijayawada) and Dr. Vikram Singh, Media and Communication Officer, Information Office Jalandhar were also present, in the programmes.
