National Rozgar Mela

The 13th edition of Rozgar Mela was held on October 29, 2024, during which the Prime Minister distributed over 1 lakh appointment letters via videoconferencing.

To boost employment initiatives in the country, the National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC), under the Ministry of Skill Development & Entrepreneurship (MSDE), Government of India, has been organizing Rozgar Melas nationwide. These events aim to connect unemployed youth with suitable job opportunities in the private sector.

Rozgar Mela[1]

A Rozgar Mela is a half-day event where employers and job seekers gather to apply for and interview for job positions. This employment strategy aims to facilitate quick connections between job seekers and employers. To organize these Rozgar Melas, the NSDC collaborates with Sector Skill Councils (SSCs) and Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Kendras (PMKKs) to source private companies that participate in the event.

The Rozgar Melas primarily target youth aged 18 to 35, accommodating a range of academic qualifications, including those who have completed 8th, 10th, and 12th grades, as well as ITI, Diploma, and Graduate degrees. This also includes trained and certified candidates who meet the National Skills Qualifications Framework standards.

Job seekers are mobilized and informed about the Rozgar Mela through various channels, such as print advertisements, bulk SMS, social media, and workshops at colleges and universities in and around the event's district.

In addition to job placements, Rozgar Melas feature several complementary activities, including:

  • Counseling sessions for job seekers and their parents
  • Kaushal Melas for youth registration in new skill development training (PMKK/PMKVY)
  • Mudra Loan Facilitation Counters and skill exhibitions where SSCs showcase their training models, equipment, and job roles.

Beyond NSDC-organized Rozgar Melas, affiliated agencies like Sector Skill Councils, Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Kendras, and PMKVY training partners also conduct Rozgar Melas of various scales across the country for youth aged 18 to 35.
