Coordinated and collective efforts in reaching out to public through outreach activities will have manifold effect in publicizing the government programmes and activities benefiting people, said Shri Rajinder Chaudhry, Additional Director General, Press Information Bureau.


Addressing stakeholders representing various Central Government offices, Public Sector Organisations at the Inter-Media Publicity Coordination Committee (IMPCC) meeting convened at Central Government Office complex, Autonagar, Vijayawada, today, he said, the purpose of IMPCC meeting is to provide a platform to various organisations under the government for better and timely coordination and collective sharing of information and data, as well as, addressing instances when in crisis and in containing negative news. 


He also underlined that the IMPCC among all the government organisations is aimed to highlight the various activities and initiatives being undertaken in each of the respective organisations' of Central and State media units PSUs, etc. Developing a good PR network for better media integration and synergy, will certainly achieve the desired goals, he added.


He highlighted the role and functions of Press Information Bureau, Andhra Pradesh with its regional office at Vijayawada and Central Bureau of Communication, AP region, with the mandate to disseminate information to the print, electronic media and the social media which has great following these days, on Government’s policies, programmes, initiatives and achievements. He said, PIB functions as an interface between the Government and the media, and also serves to provide feedback to the Government, on people's reaction as reflected in the media.


He said the purpose of the meeting is to chalk out a comprehensive communication and management strategy among all the stakeholders in government departments, to reach the people with the welfare measures of the government.


The representatives of various organisations detailed the role and functions of their organisations meant for common public and sought the intervention of Press Information Bureau in highlighting their activities in reaching out to them.    


Heads and representatives of local Central media units, viz., Railways, Postal Department, Income Tax, KVIC, Airport Authority, NSSO, Doordarshan, All India Radio, Press Information Bureau, Central Bureau of Communication, Andhra Pradesh State Information and Public Relation Department, Food Corporation of India, School of Planning and Architecture, etc., participated in the IMPCC meeting.
